Ramos harvests 4 lifting golds
FILIPINO weightlifter Rose Jean Ramos seized four gold medals in the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships at the Uzbekistan Sports Complex in Tashkent City on Monday night (Philippine time).Dominating in the youth women's 45-kilogram class, Ramos bagged the gold medal in snatch (70kg), clean and jerk (83kg), and total (153kg) to clinch the division title.The 17-year-old weightlifter from Zamboanga then notched her fourth gold medal in snatch (70kg) in the junior division. She also collected a bronze and a silver in the clean and jerk (83kg) and total (153kg), respectively.Meanwhile, another female weightlifter Angeline Colonia also came up triumphant by winning two gold medals in record fashion.The 15-year-old weightlifter claimed her first gold in snatch with a record lift of 62kg, topping the previous high of 61kg, and notched her second gold medal with a total lift of 134kg.Colonia also plucked a silver medal in the 72 kg clean and jerk.July has been a victorious month for Filipino women athletes.National karateka Junna Tsukii opened the month with her gold medal feat at The World Games in Birmingham, USA.Last Sunday, the Philippine National Women's Football team made a historic romp at the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Women's Championship 2022 by dethroning four-time champion Thailand in the finals, 3-0.It was the first AFF crown for the Philippines since 2004."For July, we have a lot of reasons to cheer for.
