OFWs Middle East Repatriation: Embassy Shares Assistance and Guidelines
The Philippine Embassy has released important information for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the Middle East regarding government assistance programs and repatriation.
During a press conference held on March 13, the embassy shared these updates through its official live broadcast.
📌 Assistance for OFWs in the Middle East
According to the embassy, the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) continue to operate regularly to assist OFWs who want to return to the Philippines.
Additionally, OFWs planning to return should:
- Prepare necessary exit documents
- Coordinate with proper authorities
- Travel by land if flights are unavailable
✈️ OFWs Repatriation Program
The OFWs Middle East repatriation program prioritizes workers who:
- Experience abuse
- Face contract violations
- Become victims of illegal recruitment
- Lose their jobs
Furthermore, OFWs experiencing physical or mental abuse should immediately call 112 or contact OWWA for urgent assistance.
📄 Travel Documents and Passport Assistance
If OFWs do not have passports, the embassy will help them secure the required documents.
In addition, the embassy may issue temporary travel documents if passports are not immediately available.
However, undocumented workers may experience delays, especially if they have pending legal issues.
💰 Financial Assistance for OFWs
The government may provide financial or cash assistance to OFWs in need. Authorities will evaluate applications after submission.

Meanwhile, the embassy clarified that there is currently no indication of a full-scale war in the Middle East.
However, authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and will activate contingency plans if needed.
Additionally, the embassy confirmed that it will remain open even during crises to assist OFWs.

OFWs who want to return to the Philippines should:
- Inform their employers first
- Seek help from the Migrant Workers Office if permission is denied
