Valenzuela, a city in the Philippines, has recently made a significant investment in improving waste management and cleanliness. The city’s administration, led by Mayor Weslie ‘Wes’ Gatchalian, has acquired 38 dump trucks and three heavy equipment vehicles, amounting to an estimated cost of P98 million. This acquisition aims to ensure regular waste collection and cleaner sidewalks throughout the city.
Mayor Gatchalian expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition, stating, “The acquisition of these dump trucks and heavy equipment vehicles through the city funds is a validation of my administration’s goal for Valenzuela to become a livable city for all its citizens.” The mayor emphasized the importance of providing a high standard of living for the residents of Valenzuela.
The turnover ceremony and blessing of the 38 dump trucks and heavy equipment vehicles took place on Saturday, with Mayor Gatchalian and other city officials leading the event. These vehicles are intended for the Waste Management Division (WMD) and Public Order and Safety Office (POSO).
According to Mara Ignacio-Salazar, the city’s Public Information Officer, each unit of dump truck costs approximately P1,973,684, while the excavator, wheel loader, and aerial platform are priced at P8,888,888, P7,358,888, and P6,995,000, respectively. These vehicles will greatly enhance the capabilities of the WMD and POSO in carrying out their services and duties, specifically in timely waste collection and ensuring clear sidewalks free from any obstructions.
Currently, the WMD operates with a fleet of 84 dump trucks, 61 of which are operational. The addition of 38 new dump trucks will significantly boost the capacity for garbage collection in Valenzuela. The city’s waste collection efforts are carried out twice a week across its 33 villages, and Mayor Gatchalian expects that the acquisition of these vehicles will eliminate any issues in waste management.
Furthermore, the city’s Clean and Green Division, in addition to waste collection, plays a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness throughout Valenzuela. The division is responsible for street sweeping operations and ensuring the tidiness of major and secondary roads across the city. This comprehensive approach to cleanliness and waste management demonstrates the city administration’s commitment to creating a clean and livable environment for its residents.
The investment in dump trucks and heavy equipment vehicles showcases Valenzuela’s dedication to improving waste management and cleanliness. By enhancing waste collection services and ensuring obstruction-free sidewalks, the city aims to provide a high standard of living for its citizens. With these new additions, Valenzuela is poised to become a model city in waste management practices, setting an example for other cities to follow.
In conclusion, Valenzuela’s acquisition of dump trucks and heavy equipment vehicles represents a significant step forward in the city’s efforts to enhance waste management and cleanliness. With the support of these vehicles, Valenzuela aims to achieve regular waste collection and maintain cleaner sidewalks throughout the city. This investment reflects the administration’s commitment to creating a livable and sustainable environment for all residents of Valenzuela.
