“Firefly” emerged as the biggest winner at the 49th edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), securing the prestigious Best Picture Award during the Gabi ng Parangal held on Wednesday night at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City. The film, led by Alessandra de Rossi and Euwenn Mikaell, also earned the Best Child Performer award for Mikaell’s outstanding performance.

Expressing his gratitude, director Zig Dulay shared that their victory signifies a positive development for the film industry. Other notable winners include JC Santos as Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Mallari,” Miles Ocampo as Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “Family of Two,” and Pepe Diokno as Best Director for “GomBurZa.” Additional awards were bestowed upon Angeli Atienza for Best Screenplay (“Firefly”), Carlo Canlas Mendoza for Best Cinematography (“GomBurZa”), Benjamin Tolentino for Best Editing (“(K)Ampon”), Ericson Navarro for Best Production Design (“GomBurZa”), Gaspar Mangarin for Best Visual Effects (“Mallari”), and the Best Original Theme Song “Finggah Lickin” from the film “Becky.”
