The Hawalli Governorate Municipality Branch, through the Director of the Cleaning and Road Occupations Department and Chairman of the Spring Camps Committee, Faisal Al-Otaibi, has recently announced the identification of designated barbecue sites in partnership with tourism project companies. This initiative aims to provide safe and regulated areas for people to enjoy barbecuing during their outings.
There are a total of five designated sites, with three open sites located along Al-Blajat Street. The specific locations of these open sites will be announced by the partnering company at a later time. Additionally, there are two closed sites available for barbecue enthusiasts. These closed sites are situated at Beach Al-Aqila and Al-Khiran Park.
It is important to note that the open sites will be free of charge, while the closed sites will require an entry fee determined by the respective company. To ensure compliance and maintain the integrity of the designated areas, individuals who choose to barbecue outside of these sites may face penalties ranging from 500 dinars to 2000 dinars.
The Spring Camps Committee has established several conditions to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the designated barbecue areas. Barbecues should not be set up on sand or crops, and special containers must be provided for charcoal ash. Additionally, barbecues should be elevated off the ground for fire safety. To enhance security, the sites will be monitored by cameras. Furthermore, specific hours for barbecuing will be implemented, and individuals must vacate the site after the designated time.
While the discussion regarding shisha smoking in the designated barbecue areas was not addressed during the committee meeting, it will be on the agenda for the upcoming meeting. The decision on whether to allow or prohibit shisha smoking in these areas will be determined after careful consideration.
