Former Pangasinan 4th District representative, Ma. Georgina “Gina” de Venecia, along with 15 others from the same district, were sworn in as new members of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) political party. The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Speaker and Lakas-CMD President Ferdinand Martin Romualdez at the Social Hall of the Speaker’s Office in the House of Representatives.
In a statement issued by his office on Thursday, Speaker Romualdez expressed his gratitude and welcomed the new members, particularly Gina de Venecia, who is not only a respected figure in her own right but also the spouse of Lakas-CMD Co-Chairman Emeritus and former speaker Jose de Venecia Jr.
Gina de Venecia previously served as the congressional representative of Pangasinan’s 4th district from 2010 to 2016. During the oath-taking ceremony, she was accompanied by de Venecia Jr. and their son, Pangasinan 4th District Rep. Christopher de Venecia.
Romualdez emphasized the party’s commitment to working closely with the new members as they continue to uphold the values of integrity, service, and progress that Lakas-CMD holds dear. He also expressed their support for the vision of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. in achieving socioeconomic transformation towards a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient society.
The newly sworn-in members include San Fabian Mayor Marlyn Agbayani and Councilors Hercules Magliba, Errol Sison, Rolando Pedralvez, Marieta Cuaresma, Chelsea Narvasa, and Kimberly Bandarlipe. Also joining the party are San Jacinto Mayor Leo de Vera and Manaoag Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario.
Witnessing the event were Tingog Party-list Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez, House Majority Leader and Zamboanga City 2nd District Rep. Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe, Agusan del Norte 1st District Rep. Jose “Joboy” Aquino, and Pangasinan 5th District Rep. Ramon Guico Jr., among others.
The addition of these new members strengthens the Lakas-CMD party’s presence and influence in the political landscape.
