According to a recent survey conducted by OCTA Research, more than six out of 10 Filipinos believe that the country is moving in the right direction. The December 2023 Tugon ng Masa survey revealed that 64 percent of respondents expressed optimism about the country’s trajectory, while 21 percent held a different view.
The survey showed that the highest level of positive sentiment came from respondents in the National Capital Region, with 81 percent stating that the country is moving in the right direction. The Visayas region followed closely behind, with 72 percent sharing the same sentiment.
In Mindanao, 62 percent of adult Filipinos believed that the country is heading in the right direction. However, this figure represented an 8 percentage point decrease from the previous survey. On the other hand, the Bangsamoro region, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Central Visayas also had high levels of positive sentiment, at 81 percent, 76 percent, and 75 percent, respectively.
It is worth noting that the Bicol Region, at 74 percent, and the Davao Region, at 58 percent, were the only areas where a majority of respondents expressed that the country is heading in the wrong direction.
When examining the survey results by age group, it was found that Filipinos aged 75 and above and those between the ages of 25-34 had the highest percentage of optimism regarding the country’s direction. Seventy-seven percent of respondents in the 75 and above age group and 75 percent in the 25-34 age group expressed positive views.
Bataan Representative Geraldine Roman commented on the survey, stating that it reflects the positive sentiment of the people. She also mentioned that the administration’s policies are working in favor of the Filipino people.
