Media seminar on BRI cooperation held in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, May 21 (Xinhua) — A seminar on Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation took place on Monday in Hawalli Governorate, Kuwait, garnering significant attention and engagement from local communities.

Co-organized by the Xinhua News Agency Middle East Bureau and the Chinese embassy, the event saw participation from over 70 representatives, including those from the Kuwait News Agency, Kuwait State Television, and various local newspapers and mainstream media outlets.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the China-Kuwait BRI cooperation agreement. During the seminar, speakers discussed topics such as “The role of media in promoting the alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative with Kuwait’s 2035 National Vision,” and “Collaborative responses by Chinese and Kuwaiti media to global challenges.”

Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Zhang Jianwei highlighted the successful economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between the two countries under the BRI over the past decade. He emphasized the crucial role of media in fostering people-to-people exchanges, expressing hope for continued media collaboration to enhance the China-Kuwait friendship.

Khaled Al-Mahdi, secretary-general of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development in Kuwait, noted the tangible development benefits brought by BRI cooperation. He reiterated Kuwait’s commitment to aligning its 2035 National Vision with the BRI.

Wu Zhongmin, deputy chief of the Middle East Bureau of Xinhua News Agency, spoke about the ongoing collaboration between Xinhua and Kuwaiti media, and Xinhua’s initiatives to advance media integration and development.

The seminar also included government officials, media representatives, and cultural and business leaders from both countries.
