First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, has taken proactive steps to address the challenges faced by Al-Durra Company in recruiting and employing domestic workers. Recognizing the importance of coordinating with Kuwaiti embassies in countries that export domestic workers, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled has reached out to Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Al-Abdullah to seek support for the company’s initiatives.
The primary objective of this collaboration is to overcome obstacles and expedite the recruitment process, ensuring that the domestic market’s demand for domestic workers is met. By streamlining the procedures and addressing any bottlenecks, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled aims to serve the needs of the citizens effectively.
To further enhance accessibility and convenience, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled has instructed Al-Durra Company to introduce a user-friendly service on its website. This new feature will enable citizens to submit special passport applications online, eliminating the need to visit the company’s headquarters. By allowing online payment of associated fees, this service will streamline the process and make it more convenient for the public.
In line with these efforts, a joint committee consisting of the Ministry of Interior, the Public Authority for Manpower, and the Ministry of Commerce has conducted inspections in the Farwaniya and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh regions. These inspections were carried out in accordance with the ministerial decision on domestic worker recruitment prices, which was implemented three days prior.
During the inspections, 15 violations related to “violating contracts” were identified. As a result, nine offices lacking K-Net devices were also discovered, leading to their subsequent arrest. Legal actions will be taken against these offices to address their non-compliance and ensure that the regulations are upheld.
In a related development, the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Public Authority for Manpower. This agreement focuses on conducting practical and technical tests for skilled workers in Kuwait as a prerequisite for obtaining a work permit.
By implementing these tests, the initiative aims to enhance the quality of technical manpower and contribute to the overall development of the labor market. The tests will be gradually introduced for specific technical professions, adhering to defined standards and conditions. This step will ensure that the workforce in Kuwait is equipped with the necessary skills and expertise to meet the demands of various industries.
Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled’s initiatives and collaborations with relevant authorities demonstrate his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by Al-Durra Company and improving the recruitment and employment procedures for domestic workers. By streamlining processes, enforcing regulations, and enhancing the quality of technical manpower, Kuwait aims to meet the needs of its citizens and foster a more efficient labor market.
