The Ministry of Education in Kuwait has recently submitted a budget request of 2.7 billion dinars for the upcoming fiscal year 2024-2025. This request has been sent to the Ministry of Finance for approval, as reported by reliable sources. The Ministry of Education’s financial sector has already completed the draft budget, which outlines the allocation of funds for various sections.
One of the major sections covered in the proposed budget is dedicated to workers’ salaries and bonuses. This section alone exceeds two billion dinars, reflecting an increase in the number of employees in educational and administrative bodies. This expansion is in line with the Ministry’s plans to open new schools to accommodate urban growth and the development of new residential areas, such as Al-Mutla’a and Abdullah Mubarak suburb, among others, as reported by Al-Anba daily.
Currently, the Ministry of Education employs over 143,000 teachers and administrators, with the salaries section accounting for approximately 90% of the budget. This highlights the significant investment being made to ensure the quality of education and support the growing needs of the education sector in Kuwait.
In addition to the budget request, the Ministry of Education is also focused on the ongoing academic activities. Twelfth-grade students in scientific, literary, and religious education sections are currently participating in exams for the first academic period. To ensure the smooth progress of these examinations, the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Anwar Al-Hamdan, along with other officials, is conducting field tours to oversee examination committees in religious education institutes.
Hessa Al-Mutawa, the Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education, emphasized that Kuwait has four religious institutes for the secondary stage, accommodating a total of 794 students. The examinations for twelfth-grade students are progressing smoothly, with strict adherence to regulations to maintain the quality of education.
The Chairman of the Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait Institute Examinations Committee, Muhammad Al-Rashidi, and the head of the examination committee for the Cordoba Religious Institute Girls, Sharifa Al-Anazi, have confirmed that their committees are operating in accordance with established rules and regulations without encountering any significant problems.
Regarding the release of exam results, the Ministry of Education has announced that the results of 329,233 students have already been uploaded on its website. School administrations are continuing to upload results through electronic platforms and the Sahl application, providing convenience to students and guardians.
The Ministry of Education’s budget request and its commitment to ensuring the smooth progress of examinations reflect the government’s dedication to providing quality education for Kuwaiti students. The proposed budget allocation for workers’ salaries and bonuses demonstrates the Ministry’s efforts to support its growing workforce and address the needs of the expanding education sector. With the ongoing focus on examinations and the efficient release of results, the Ministry is actively working towards maintaining the standards of education in Kuwait.
