Officials from the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy recently held a preparatory meeting to discuss the findings of the Audit Bureau’s annual report on the Ministry’s final account for the fiscal year 2022-2023. The report examined the budget implementation of various ministries and government departments. In light of the observations made by the Audit Bureau, the Ministry is actively engaging with the Parliamentary Budgets Committee to address financial violations.
According to reliable sources within the Ministry, Dr. Jassim Al-Astad, the Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, is taking steps to establish an investigation committee. This committee will thoroughly examine and address the financial irregularities highlighted in the Audit Bureau’s latest report, as reported by Al-Rai daily.
Additionally, efforts are underway to clear four warehouses located in the Subhan area. These warehouses were previously utilized by the Ministry of Health during the “Corona” pandemic to store medical supplies. Out of the six warehouses used during that period, the Ministry has already received two, and there is ongoing coordination to acquire the remaining four. The Ministry had previously communicated with the Ministry of Health to reclaim the materials in these warehouses for reuse by the Ministry of Electricity.
The process of evacuating and repurposing these warehouses to store electricity-related materials is currently in progress. This step will help optimize the Ministry’s operations and ensure efficient storage of the diverse materials required for its activities.
It is important to note that one of the observations raised in the recent Audit Bureau report highlighted overcrowding in some of the Ministry’s warehouses. The report attributed this overcrowding to inadequate storage space for the various materials used in the Ministry’s operations.
Establishing an investigation committee demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to addressing any financial irregularities and ensuring transparency in its operations. By actively engaging with the Parliamentary Budgets Committee, the Ministry is taking proactive steps to rectify any financial violations and improve accountability.
The clearance of the warehouses previously used by the Ministry of Health is another significant development. By reclaiming these spaces for electricity-related materials, the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy will optimize its resources and enhance its ability to serve the public effectively.
Efficient storage and management of materials are crucial for the Ministry’s operations. By repurposing these warehouses, the Ministry can ensure that electricity-related materials are stored in an organized and accessible manner, streamlining its processes and promoting smooth operations.
Overall, the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy’s proactive measures, such as establishing an investigation committee and clearing warehouses for electricity-related materials, demonstrate its commitment to transparency, accountability, and efficient resource utilization. These actions will contribute to the Ministry’s ability to fulfill its mandate of providing reliable electricity, water, and renewable energy services to the public.
