The Power Stations Sector in the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy is diligently working towards completing tender projects aimed at improving the operation and maintenance of electricity production units in several power stations. These efforts are focused on increasing operational efficiency in preparation for the upcoming summer season and future seasons.
An official source within the Ministry has revealed that completing these tender projects is of utmost importance in meeting the country’s electrical energy needs. The Ministry is committed to enhancing the efficiency of its operational units and ensuring the strength of its production units remains unaffected. In light of this, the Ministry is calling on relevant authorities to cooperate and support its tender projects related to maintaining electricity production and water distillation units.
In the coming week, the Ministry is set to award the recommendation for Tender No. 76. This particular tender involves providing high-efficiency and continuous engineering services for open-cycle gas turbines and their auxiliary equipment at the Subbiya station. The Ministry will select the bidder who meets the necessary conditions and specifications for this tender. Currently, the Ministry is awaiting approval for this decision.
Additionally, the Audit Bureau has awarded Tender No. 115, which focuses on Alstom units in Al-Zour South Station. The Ministry is preparing to sign the contract with the winning contractor for this tender. Furthermore, the Ministry has received approval from the Audit Bureau to award Tender No. 122, which involves engineering services for the open cycle units at the Subbiya station. The Ministry is now in the process of preparing to sign the contract with the winning contractor. It is worth noting that the Ministry, represented by the Power Stations Sector, has already signed the contract for Tender No. 67, which pertains to the maintenance work of the North Shuaiba station units.
Regarding Tender No. 44, which focuses on updating the boilers of the Doha West Station, the report states that the tender has faced challenges. The Ministry is seeking the opinion of the Central Agency for Public Tenders, particularly after the withdrawal of the lowest prices from the competition. Despite the Audit Bureau’s rejection of a previous recommendation to award the second lowest price, the Ministry stands by its opinion and recommends the second lowest bid. However, if the Bureau rejects the award once again, the Ministry is open to considering other bids that meet the necessary conditions.
As for the tender for the construction of the Subbiya station’s fourth phase, a meeting was scheduled to discuss its status and outcomes in the Council of Ministers. Unfortunately, this meeting was not held due to the passing of Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad. Nevertheless, there is a growing inclination to support the implementation of this tender.
The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, through its Power Stations Sector, is actively working to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of power station operations. By completing these tender projects, the Ministry aims to meet the country’s electricity needs and maintain the strength of its production units. With ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency, the Ministry is committed to providing a reliable and sustainable source of electrical energy for the nation.
