Acting Director General of the Environment Public Authority, Engineer Samira Al-Kandari, emphasized the crucial role of combating corruption in ensuring the continued prosperity and security of our country, both in the present and the future. Recognizing that this responsibility falls upon all members of society and its institutions, Al-Kandari made these remarks during the opening of a workshop organized by the Authority. The workshop aimed to introduce the Public Authority for Anti-Corruption, known as “Nazaha,” and highlight the most important laws related to the fight against corruption.

Al-Kandari highlighted the significance of the Environment Public Authority (EPA) as an integral part of the country’s institutional work system. One of its primary goals is to contribute to the creation of an environment that supports sustainable development. To achieve this, the EPA works to coordinate efforts with “Nazaha,” fostering further cooperation through training programs, workshops, and activities that promote integrity, transparency, and the exchange of experiences. These initiatives serve to address challenges faced by the Authority, enhance its performance, raise awareness about corruption-related issues, and establish accountability among all groups working within the Authority.

Collaboration with “Nazaha” extends beyond awareness campaigns. The EPA and “Nazaha” actively work together to prevent corruption by activating follow-up and control mechanisms in cooperation with relevant departments. By leveraging their guidance, the EPA ensures the optimal utilization of resources, upholding the principles of integrity and transparency. This commitment to ethical practices reflects positively on the completed work, services rendered, and the overall reputation of the institution.

Fajr Al-Roumi, Director of the Inspection and Audit Office at “Nazaha,” shed light on the importance of oversight and inspection in government agencies. She discussed the role of internal audit, its objectives, and its impact on enhancing integrity, transparency, and combating corruption. Al-Roumi also mentioned the Council of Ministers’ decision to establish audit and inspection offices in all state agencies, emphasizing the need to carry out financial and administrative audits while adhering to their respective executive regulations.

In her presentation, Dalal Ghazanfari, a Senior Law Specialist at “Integrity,” provided a visual overview of the Anti-Corruption Law and the various crimes categorized as corruption. These crimes include assault on public funds, tax evasion, bribery, customs evasion, financing terrorism, exploitation of influence, forgery, and illicit gain. Ghazanfari emphasized that the harmful effects of corruption extend beyond the individuals involved, impacting society as a whole. She particularly highlighted the detrimental consequences of cheating in exams, considering it a significant manifestation of corruption.

By actively engaging in workshops, training programs, and collaborative efforts with “Nazaha,” the Environment Public Authority is committed to combatting corruption and promoting a culture of integrity and transparency. Recognizing that the future of our country depends on these endeavors, the EPA strives to create an environment conducive to sustainable development. Through continuous improvement, coordination, and awareness, the Authority aims to safeguard the prosperity and security of our nation for generations to come.
