President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. made a significant announcement on Monday regarding the government’s Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) Network Program. In a video statement, he shared that his administration has achieved over half of the program’s target of 131,410.66 kilometers in just a year and a half since he assumed office.
“I am happy to share a significant update on the Farm-to-Market Road Network Program. Our original target is 131,410.66 kilometers in six years, but I can now report that we have already completed 51 percent,” Marcos said.
Out of this target, the government has successfully constructed 67,328.92 kilometers of roads, which is equivalent to 32 times the distance from Aparri to Jolo. This accomplishment highlights the magnitude of the government’s efforts and the impact it has on connecting different communities.
The Farm-to-Market Road Network Program goes beyond agriculture; it serves as a vital connection between markets and producers, especially within the agricultural sector. By improving road infrastructure, the government aims to facilitate the transport and delivery of goods, ultimately benefiting both producers and consumers.
President Marcos emphasized his commitment to completing all road networks under his administration’s “Build, Better, More” initiative. He assured the public that the government would work diligently to ensure the timely completion of the remaining FMRs.
In September of last year, Marcos assigned relevant national agencies to identify areas in need of FMR development and construction. This includes roads that are heavily used but in poor condition, yet have a high volume of traffic. By addressing these areas, the government aims to improve transportation efficiency and support economic growth.
Furthermore, the president also directed the rehabilitation and repair of FMRs that have been damaged by floods and other natural disasters. This proactive approach ensures the unhampered transport and delivery of goods, even in challenging circumstances.
The progress made in the Farm-to-Market Road Network Program is a testament to the government’s dedication to infrastructure development. By investing in road connectivity, the administration aims to enhance the overall accessibility and efficiency of the transportation network.
The completion of these road networks will have a far-reaching impact on various sectors of society, including agriculture, trade, and tourism. Local communities will benefit from improved access to markets, leading to increased economic opportunities and development.
President Marcos’s announcement highlights the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and fostering economic growth. The Farm-to-Market Road Network Program is a crucial step towards building a better and more connected nation.
As the government continues to work towards the completion of the remaining road networks, the public can look forward to enhanced connectivity and improved access to essential services. The Farm-to-Market Road Network Program is a testament to the administration’s dedication to creating a more prosperous and inclusive society for all.
