President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to expedite the construction of the Airport to New Clark City Access Road (ANAR) in Pampanga. This six-lane access road will connect the New Clark City to the Clark International Airport, enhancing connectivity across Luzon and improving tourist traffic in the province.

The completion of the ANAR is crucial in reducing travel time between the Clark International Airport and New Clark City. Once fully operational, the journey that used to take an hour will now be shortened to just 20 minutes. Not only will this save commuters time, but it will also be toll-free, providing additional savings for travelers.

The ANAR is part of BCDA’s One Clark development initiative, which aims to drive economic and social transformation in the country by developing alternative growth areas outside Metro Manila. As of February 14, the project was 95.21 percent complete, with the remaining works scheduled to be concluded by June 24.

One of the notable features of the road is the 900-meter bridge over the Sacobia River in Bamban, Tarlac. This bridge not only showcases engineering prowess but also demonstrates a commitment to environmental sensitivity. The construction of infrastructure that harmonizes with the natural surroundings is a testament to the government’s dedication to sustainable development.

President Marcos emphasized that the development of Clark’s physical capital must go hand in hand with the upskilling of its manpower. It is not enough to have modern infrastructure; the workforce must also possess the necessary skills to support the growth of the region. By investing in human capital, Clark can position itself as a mecca for tourists, a magnet for investments, and a thriving market for goods and services.

The completion of the ANAR and the overall development of Clark will have far-reaching benefits. The improved connectivity will attract more visitors to the region, boosting tourism and creating opportunities for local businesses. Additionally, the development of alternative growth areas outside Metro Manila will help alleviate the strain on the capital city and distribute economic opportunities more evenly across the country.

President Marcos’s directive to expedite the completion of the ANAR demonstrates the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and promoting economic growth. By investing in projects like the ANAR, the government aims to create a more connected and prosperous Philippines.

In conclusion, the Airport to New Clark City Access Road is a significant infrastructure project that will greatly improve connectivity and tourism in Pampanga. President Marcos’s directive to expedite its completion highlights the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and promoting economic growth. With the ANAR nearing completion, the journey between the Clark International Airport and New Clark City will be significantly shortened, benefiting both commuters and tourists. The development of Clark as an alternative growth area outside Metro Manila will create new opportunities for businesses and contribute to the overall economic development of the country.
