Zain Honors Top 10 Football Stars at Powerful Annual Excellence Awards
Kuwait: For the second consecutive year, Zain hosted its prestigious Excellence Awards ceremony to honor the top athletes from the 2023-2024 Zain Premier League (Dawri Zain) football season. The event celebrated the outstanding players who won the hearts of thousands of fans throughout the season.
The ceremony took place at the Regency Hotel and was attended by key figures including Zain Kuwait Chief Corporate Affairs and Relations Officer Waleed Al Khashti, Kuwait Football Association Vice Chairman Haief Al Mutairi, KFA Board Member Fatima Hayat, KFA Secretary-General Salah Al Qenaei, Deputy General Manager of the Public Sports Authority – Sports for All Division Hamed Al Hazeem, Al Qabas and SHASHA Managing Director Nasser Al Momen, as well as other Zain and KFA officials, members of the local sports community, and local and regional sports media. The event was hosted by popular sports influencer Musaad Al Fouzan.
During the ceremony, Zain and the KFA presented cash prizes to the top performers of the 2023-2024 season, as announced by the technical committee. Awards included weekly Player of the Round prizes for the Premier League (KD 500) and the First Division League (KD 200), and a Best Photo of the Season Award (KD 1000) won by Faisal Al Loughani.
Zain continues to support local athletes, believing that such encouragement enhances league performance and excitement for fans. The company has pledged to continue its support and has added new prize categories to further boost the local sports sector.
Before the season’s start, the Kuwait Football Association formed a special committee to set the criteria for selecting prize winners. The committee included former international players and experts Abdulaziz Hamadah (committee head), Hamad Al Enzi, Ahmad Mousa, Hussain Hakem, and Hussain Al Mutairi. Zain thanked the committee for their efforts throughout the season.
The event also celebrated the top three winners of the Zain Fantasy League for the 2023-2024 season, which saw over 6000 players participating. The winners were Mutlaq Salman (first place, KD 5000), Ahmad Sanasiri (second place, KD 3500), and joint third place winners Shadi Makki and Aysha Al Hamad (KD 750 each).
With this awards ceremony, Zain successfully concluded the second season of its strategic partnership with the Kuwait Football Association, which extends through the 2022-2026 seasons. This season’s competitions included the Kuwait Premier League (Dawri Zain), won by Kuwait SC, H.H. the Amir’s Cup, won by Qadsiya SC, and the Zain First Division League, won by Yarmouk SC.
Under this partnership, Zain focused on three main areas: providing cash prizes to athletes, organizing social events and engaging with fans at stadiums, and launching the first-ever Fantasy Football League in Kuwaiti football history. These efforts aligned with the KFA’s vision to strengthen the local football scene.
Zain also expressed appreciation to SHASHA, the leading local streaming platform, for broadcasting Dawri Zain’s matches using the latest streaming technologies, delivering match coverage and analysis by top sports pundits to fans through SHASHA’s digital platforms.
Zain firmly believes that the private sector plays a crucial role in developing the local sports and youth sectors and demonstrates this commitment by sponsoring and supporting major sports programs nationwide.
