Finance Secretary Ralph Recto has recently been appointed to the Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees, along with Trustee Maria Lourdes Doria-Velarde. The board, chaired by Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, warmly welcomed Recto and Doria-Velarde.
Secretary Acuzar expressed confidence in the expertise of Recto and Doria-Velarde, stating that their respective fields of knowledge will greatly contribute to the mission of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to uplift the lives of fellow Filipinos through savings and affordable home financing under the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program.
“We eagerly anticipate collaborating with Secretary Recto and Trustee Doria-Velarde in formulating and implementing policies that will enable the Pag-IBIG Fund to continue providing responsive programs for its members and stakeholders,” Secretary Acuzar added.
Recto and Doria-Velarde join a distinguished group of board members, including Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Marilene Acosta, Department of Budget and Management Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, and Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Alfredo Pascual. The board also consists of representatives from private employees, private employers, and government employees.
CEO Acosta emphasized the agency’s commitment to inclusivity in addressing the needs of its members and stakeholders, which has been instrumental in Pag-IBIG’s strong fiscal position and outstanding performance. The acronym “Pag-IBIG” itself stands for “Pagtutulungan para sa Kinabukasan: Ikaw, Bangko, Industriya at Gobyerno,” reflecting the agency’s dedication to involving and developing synergies among all stakeholders.
Last year, Pag-IBIG released a record-breaking amount of P126.04 billion in home loans, the highest in its 43-year history. This significant sum financed a total of 96,488 housing units for its members, demonstrating the agency’s commitment to providing accessible and affordable housing options.
The appointment of Secretary Recto and Trustee Doria-Velarde to the Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees signifies a strengthened commitment to the agency’s mission of empowering Filipinos through savings and home financing. Their expertise, combined with the collective efforts of the board and various stakeholders, will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success of Pag-IBIG in providing responsive programs for its members and stakeholders.
