GO Negosyo founder Jose Ma. “Joey” Concepcion 3rd is confident that 2024 will be a prosperous year for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Philippines, despite the challenges posed by the global economy. Concepcion expressed his optimism during the announcement of Go Negosyo’s first entrepreneurship event of the year, 3M on Wheels, which will take place at the TriNoma Mall in Quezon City on January 20.
Concepcion emphasized the significance of this free entrepreneurship mentoring event, stating that it demonstrates the organization’s commitment to supporting MSMEs, especially in light of the promising prospects for the country’s economy. He also highlighted the affirmation from the Philippine delegation to the 2024 World Economic Forum that the Philippines is the best destination in the region for foreign investments. This affirmation, along with Speaker Martin Romualdez’s endorsement of the President’s message, reinforces the notion that the Philippines is a bright spot amidst the global recession.
Go Negosyo aims to organize at least 50 free entrepreneurship mentoring events throughout the year, with the goal of doubling the number of small entrepreneurs they can assist in starting and growing their businesses. For the upcoming event at TriNoma Mall, MSMEs from Quezon City and nearby areas are expected to gather at the Activity Center to receive free entrepreneurship coaching from experienced mentors and top business executives. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to explore marketing options and financing services offered by various participating companies.
Concepcion stressed the importance of scaling up MSMEs in order to uplift the Philippines from poverty. He believes that for the country to progress, it is crucial to support the growth and development of these small businesses. As part of the program, entrepreneur and content creator Isabel Magalona Go, who established her business But First Coffee during the pandemic, will deliver a short talk on how small entrepreneurs can effectively utilize social media tools to promote and market their products and services.
Apart from one-on-one coaching for active and aspiring entrepreneurs, the event will also provide access to financing and market solutions. 3M on Wheels, a program organized by the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (Go Negosyo), revolves around the three M’s essential for successful entrepreneurship: Mentorship, Money, and Market. These three pillars form the foundation of Go Negosyo’s mission to promote entrepreneurship among Filipinos.
The inspiration behind the event stems from the increasing number of Filipinos venturing into entrepreneurship. It aims to bridge the learning gap in the entrepreneurial journey of both active and aspiring entrepreneurs. The program is a collaborative effort involving local government units, government agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry, business organizations, and private sector sponsors who share the program’s advocacy.
Concepcion has previously emphasized the vital role played by MSMEs in the region’s economy, as they account for over 90 percent of all businesses and provide employment to more than 85 percent of the workforce. Their contribution to the gross domestic product of each member-country in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations is significant, making their growth essential for the overall economic development of the region.
In conclusion, Go Negosyo’s founder, Joey Concepcion, remains optimistic about the prospects for MSMEs in 2024. Through initiatives like 3M on Wheels, Go Negosyo aims to provide crucial support, mentorship, and resources to entrepreneurs, enabling them to thrive and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
