MANILA, Philippines: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Sunday denounced the bombing at the Mindanao State University (MSU) that has, so far, left three to four people dead, as of posting time, and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.

In a statement, President Marcos expressed his strong condemnation of the senseless and heinous acts committed by foreign terrorists against the Mindanao State University (MSU) and the Marawi communities. He emphasized that those who resort to violence against innocent people will always be considered enemies of society.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the victims, their loved ones, and the communities that have been targeted in this latest assault on peace,” President Marcos added. He assured the affected individuals and communities that government assistance is readily available and will be provided.

The President also assured the public that the government is fully aware of the situation and is taking immediate action. He emphasized that this attack by foreign terrorists will not go unpunished and that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.

Initial investigations have revealed that the explosion occurred inside the MSU gymnasium during a Catholic mass. The national government is now working in close coordination with the regional government of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and the local government units concerned to ensure a swift response to what President Marcos described as the “latest assault on peace.”

The President’s strong stance against terrorism and commitment to justice sends a clear message that acts of violence will not be tolerated in the Philippines. The government’s collaboration with local and regional authorities demonstrates its dedication to maintaining peace and security in the affected areas.

It is important to note that the Philippines has been facing security challenges, particularly in the southern region of Mindanao, where armed groups and extremist organizations operate. The government has been actively working to address these threats and protect its citizens.

President Marcos’ condemnation of the bombing and his promise to bring the perpetrators to justice reflects the government’s determination to maintain peace and security for all Filipinos. The support and assistance provided to the victims and their families further demonstrate the government’s commitment to helping those affected by such acts of violence.

As the investigation continues, it is crucial for the authorities to gather all the necessary evidence and information to identify the individuals or groups responsible for this attack. By holding them accountable, the government can send a strong message that terrorism will not prevail in the Philippines.

The international community stands in solidarity with the Philippines in its fight against terrorism. Cooperation and collaboration among nations are essential in combating this global threat. The Philippines, like many other countries, faces the challenge of dealing with foreign terrorists who seek to destabilize peace and security.

President Marcos’ swift response and assurance of justice provide a sense of reassurance to the Filipino people. It is through strong leadership and decisive action that the government can effectively address security concerns and protect its citizens.

As the investigation progresses, it is important for the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. Together, with the government’s efforts and the support of the community, the Philippines can overcome these challenges and continue its path towards peace and progress.
