MANILA, Philippines: Two years after taking a break in the United States following his separation from then-wife Carla Abellana, actor Tom Rodriguez has revealed that he is now in a new relationship. In an interview with Nelson Canlas on “24 Oras,” Rodriguez shared that he never thought he would find love again.
The 36-year-old actor expressed his surprise at finding love again, stating, “I am seeing someone. Once I was ready, it came at the right time. At that point, I thought it would never happen again.” Rodriguez also mentioned that he intends to keep the identity of his new partner private for now.
When asked about his decision to keep his relationship private, Rodriguez admitted, “I might be selfish. I really want to keep it to myself. But as I mentioned, I’ll live my life as it is. So, maybe eventually everyone will see what they get. But for now, it’s just mine.”
During his time in the US, Rodriguez focused on self-love and self-improvement. He emphasized the importance of appreciating the simple things in life and trusting that what is meant for you will come without the need for excessive control. Rodriguez also highlighted the significance of surrendering oneself to a higher power and finding comfort in the guidance provided by the Lord.
When asked about the possibility of encountering his ex-wife Carla Abellana again, Rodriguez expressed a sense of detachment, stating, “For me, honestly, I don’t think it matters to me much. We have our own paths and our own lives now, and I wish her well.” It is evident that Rodriguez has moved on from his past relationship and is focused on his personal growth and future endeavors.
Furthermore, Rodriguez shared that he feels “100 percent” healed and ready to pursue showbiz projects once again. After reports of their separation emerged in 2022, Rodriguez took a break and flew to Arizona, seeking solace and time for self-reflection. The couple’s marriage lasted less than a year, following their wedding in October 2021. Prior to their marriage, Rodriguez and Abellana had been in a relationship for seven years and first worked together in GMA-7’s teleserye “My Husband’s Lover” in 2013.
