Around 200,000 people are expected to attend the “Bagong Pilipinas” (New Philippines) kick-off rally at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila today, as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. leads the inaugural gathering of his administration’s campaign for change and development. The participation of the Filipino people is vital for the country’s transformation.

The Bagong Pilipinas rally is a call to action from the administration, urging every citizen, both within the Philippines and around the world, to join in this movement. The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Director, Cris Villonco, emphasized the importance of the public’s cooperation in achieving the vision for a new Philippines.

“We cannot do this without the participation of our new Filipinos, our citizens,” Villonco stated during the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon program. “The call to action is to remind ourselves, to remind the Filipinos, and to transform the Filipino with Filipino pride in mind, in word, in action.”

The goal of the rally is to unite the Filipino people, encouraging them to come together, take part, and work towards building a new Philippines. Villonco emphasized that a new Philippines can only exist if there are new Filipinos, and that includes all of us.

The event will feature performances from popular celebrities such as Andrew E., Jose and Wally, Geneva Cruz, Arci Muñoz, and Ronnie Liang. However, the highlight of the rally is the “Serbisyo Fair,” which offers expedited processing of government services.

Various government agencies, including the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Government Service Insurance System, Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), Philippine Statistics Authority, National Bureau of Investigation, Pag-Ibig Fund, Philippine National Police, and Professional Regulatory Commission, will be present at the fair to provide their services.

The Philippine National Police will be deploying more than 2,000 policemen to ensure the security of the event. It is important to note that attendance at the rally is voluntary.

Former Bayan Muna Rep. Ferdinand Gaite alleged that select government agencies had issued circulars ordering their staff to attend the rally. However, Presidential Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil denied the allegation, stating that attendance is voluntary for Malacañang employees.

Meanwhile, Bayan Muna Chairman Neri Colmenares expressed his disapproval of the rally, considering it a waste of resources, time, and effort. He criticized the mandatory attendance of government workers and village officials, highlighting the need to address pressing issues instead.

Colmenares urged the public to redirect their efforts towards movements that would genuinely benefit the people, suggesting that they shun the rally and engage in initiatives that address critical concerns.

In conclusion, the Bagong Pilipinas kick-off rally serves as a call to action for the Filipino people to actively participate in the transformation of the country. While some have voiced concerns about mandatory attendance, it is important to emphasize that participation in the event is voluntary. The rally presents an opportunity for citizens to come together, show their support, and contribute to the vision of a new Philippines.
