PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos recently organized a heartwarming event at Malacañang Palace, where they distributed Christmas gifts to more than 1,700 children from youth shelters and orphanages. This initiative was part of the “Balik Sigla, Bigay Saya” gift-giving activity, a collaborative effort between the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and private support groups associated with the President, including Jollibee and San Miguel Corp.
The event was not limited to Malacañang Palace; it was simultaneously held at 300 satellite centers across the country, benefitting a total of 17,000 children. This widespread reach demonstrates the commitment and dedication of President Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos in bringing holiday cheer to as many children as possible.
President Marcos Jr. expressed his belief that Christmas is truly about the children, stating, “We all know that Christmas is really about the children. And we always have a Merry Christmas when the children have a good Christmas. For us to see all your smiles and greet Merry Christmas are enough to make it meaningful.” His heartfelt words reflect the importance of ensuring that every child experiences the joy and happiness that Christmas brings.
The President further emphasized the significance of the event, saying, “But we are just so happy. This is for me — this is really the meaning of the Christmas spirit. To be surrounded by children laughing, running around, having fun — that’s what’s important.” His genuine happiness and appreciation for the children’s laughter and enjoyment exemplify the true spirit of Christmas.
The collaboration between the DSWD and private support groups allowed for the distribution of gifts to children in various regions. In the National Capital Region, 1,120 children received early Christmas gifts, while 449 children in Cebu, 600 children in Davao, and over 14,867 children in other satellite centers across the country also benefited from this initiative.
Before concluding the event, President Marcos Jr. took a moment to express his gratitude towards the guardians and parents who take care of these children. Their unwavering support and love contribute to the well-being and happiness of these underprivileged children.
This heartwarming event organized by President Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos serves as a shining example of the power of collective efforts in spreading joy and happiness during the holiday season. By partnering with both government agencies and private support groups, they were able to make a significant impact on the lives of thousands of underprivileged children across the country.
Their dedication to ensuring that every child experiences the magic of Christmas is commendable, and their commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of these children is truly inspiring. Through their selfless actions, President Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos have brought smiles to the faces of countless children and reminded us all of the true meaning of Christmas.
