MANILA, Philippines: Today, members of a coalition in the Philippines are joining the Global Day of Action Against Genocide to raise awareness about the ongoing plight of the people of Palestine. They emphasize that Palestinians are subjected to relentless attacks and inhumane conditions.

The Solidarity to Oppose Wars Coalition Philippines, consisting of social movements, trade unions, non-government organizations, and political parties, will be organizing various actions in Manila, parts of the Visayas, and Mindanao. Their goal is to exert pressure for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the West Bank.

“We strongly advocate for peace and an end to all wars of aggression, the escalating threats of militarization, and manifestations of military intervention,” stated the Stop the War Coalition Philippines during a media briefing on Friday.

Professor Walden Bello, senior adviser of the coalition, points out that genocide is occurring right before our eyes. He emphasizes the importance of human solidarity, stating, “We are human beings and we cannot separate our fate from that of other people.”

In the Philippines, the Stop the War Coalition is collaborating with various multi-sectoral formations and networks across the country. Their belief is that real peace cannot exist without justice, accountability, and truth-telling.

Mercy Angeles, a member of the Stop the War Coalition, expresses their unity with peace-loving people worldwide in amplifying the call and aspirations of the Palestinian people. She emphasizes the coalition’s demand for an end to the genocide perpetrated by Israel.

Furthermore, the coalition demands that Israel immediately and unconditionally implement a ceasefire to ensure the establishment of safe zones for the distribution of aid. They also call upon world leaders to hold Israel accountable for its actions.

Lastly, Angeles appeals to fellow Filipinos, who understand the value of democracy, to support the global movement to free Palestine.

This international coalition’s participation in the Global Day of Action Against Genocide highlights the urgent need for attention and action to address the ongoing crisis in Palestine. By joining forces with other peace-loving individuals and groups around the world, they aim to bring justice, accountability, and an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people.
