SENATE President Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri has called on the House of Representatives to proceed with its investigation into the claim made by a television host regarding a Senate employee leaking information about the P1.8-billion travel budget of House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.
Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) television host Jeffrey Celiz alleged that a Senate employee was responsible for leaking Romualdez’s travel budget. However, Celiz later apologized to lawmakers and acknowledged that his source had provided incorrect information.
In response to these allegations, Zubiri issued a statement, saying, “I have no knowledge whatsoever of anyone from the Senate leaking information to any reporter on any House matter.” He further emphasized that without the identification of a specific Senate employee, there is no reason to believe that these allegations hold any weight. Zubiri dismissed them as mere intrigues aimed at generating controversy and spreading fake news.
