Senator Christopher “Bong” Go recently extended aid to over 100 families in Manila whose houses were damaged by fire two weeks ago. On November 14, the senator provided assistance to fire victims in Barangay (village) 732 and Barangay 739.

Go’s team distributed grocery packs, water containers, snacks, shirts, and balls for basketball and volleyball to 184 affected families. Additionally, select recipients received shoes and mobile phones. The distribution of these essential items aimed to alleviate the immediate needs of the affected families.

Assessing the victims for possible emergency housing assistance, personnel from the National Housing Authority worked alongside Senator Go’s team. This collaboration ensured that those in need would receive the necessary support to rebuild their lives.

In a heartfelt video message, Senator Go urged the residents to exercise caution and prioritize their safety. “A lost life is a lost life forever,” he emphasized. By emphasizing the importance of safety, Go aimed to prevent further tragedies and promote awareness within the community.

Senator Go also highlighted the ongoing efforts to modernize the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). The BFP Modernization Act of 2021, also known as Republic Act (RA) 11589, which Go primarily authored and co-sponsored, plays a crucial role in ensuring that the BFP is better prepared and equipped to respond to fire-related incidents.

RA 11589 encompasses a comprehensive ten-year modernization program for the BFP. This program includes the acquisition of new fire equipment, the hiring of more firefighters, and the provision of specialized training, among other initiatives. By investing in these improvements, the BFP will be better equipped to protect the community and respond effectively to fire emergencies.

As the vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Go expressed his commitment to improving the delivery of public service in Manila. He has been actively supporting various initiatives to enhance the city’s infrastructure and overall well-being.

Senator Go has championed the acquisition of medical and educational supplies, surveillance systems, a rescue patrol service, ambulances, and a multipurpose vehicle for Manila. Additionally, he has worked towards the purchase and installation of solar-powered street lighting, contributing to a safer and more sustainable environment for the city.

Through his consistent efforts and commitment to public service, Senator Bong Go continues to make a positive impact on the lives of the Filipino people. His recent aid to fire victims in Manila is just one example of his dedication to helping those in need and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
