MANILA, Philippines: The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) is closely monitoring cloud clusters that may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as a low pressure area (LPA) over the weekend.
Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that the cloud formations were observed over the central Pacific Ocean and are likely to develop into an LPA within 24 hours.
“Our forecast indicates that we do not expect any weather disturbance to enter PAR until Friday,” Estareja stated. “However, the cloud clusters outside PAR may develop into an LPA and potentially enter the country over the weekend,” he added.
Once inside PAR, the LPA is expected to bring heavy rainfall, particularly over the Visayas and Mindanao regions, according to the state-run weather agency.
In the meantime, Pagasa mentioned that most parts of the country will continue to experience generally fair weather conditions, with the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” affecting Northern and Central Luzon.
However, the easterlies, along with localized thunderstorms, will bring partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon or at night over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
The Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) refers to the area in which the Philippine government has the responsibility to provide weather forecasts, warnings, and advisories. It encompasses the land and waters of the Philippines and is crucial for monitoring and preparing for potential weather disturbances.
Pagasa plays a vital role in monitoring and disseminating weather information to ensure the safety and well-being of the Filipino people. By closely monitoring cloud clusters and potential LPAs, Pagasa can provide timely and accurate forecasts, allowing individuals and communities to make informed decisions and take necessary precautions.
The development of an LPA from these cloud clusters highlights the importance of continuous monitoring and preparedness. LPAs can bring significant rainfall, which may lead to flooding, landslides, and other weather-related hazards. By staying informed and following the guidance of Pagasa and local authorities, individuals can better protect themselves and their communities.
It is important to note that weather patterns can change rapidly, and it is essential to stay updated with the latest forecasts and advisories. Pagasa’s dedication to monitoring and providing accurate information allows individuals and organizations to plan and respond effectively to potential weather disturbances.
As the country prepares for the possible entry of an LPA, it is crucial for everyone to remain vigilant and prepared. This includes staying informed about weather updates, securing loose objects, and being aware of evacuation procedures in case of severe weather conditions.
By working together and prioritizing safety, the Filipino people can overcome the challenges posed by weather disturbances and ensure the resilience of their communities.
Remember, weather forecasts and advisories are essential tools for protecting lives and property. Stay informed, stay prepared, and stay safe.
