MANILA, Philippines: The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has forecasted isolated light rains in the next 24 hours. These rain showers are expected to occur mainly in the afternoon or at night, due to the easterlies and northeast monsoon locally known as “amihan”. While the country will remain free from any major weather disturbance, it is important to stay informed about the current weather conditions.
According to weather specialist Benison Estareja, the easterlies are winds that originate from the east, passing through the Pacific Ocean and bringing warm and humid weather to the Philippines. These winds are particularly affecting the provinces of Aurora and Quezon, where scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail. It is advisable to take necessary precautions and be prepared for sudden changes in weather.
The northeast monsoon, known as “amihan,” is responsible for bringing cold winds from the northeast that carry rains, especially over the eastern side of the country. Currently, it is causing wet weather over Batanes and Cagayan, as well as the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley. Residents in these areas should be prepared for rainy conditions and possible thunderstorms.
Along with the localized thunderstorms, the easterlies are also affecting Metro Manila and the rest of the country. This means that partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated downpours and thunderstorms may be experienced. It is essential to stay updated with the latest weather advisories and take necessary precautions to ensure personal safety.
It is important to note that Pagasa has not monitored a low-pressure area (LPA) inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the coming days. This indicates that there are no significant weather disturbances expected in the near future. However, weather patterns can change rapidly, so it is advisable to stay vigilant and stay connected to reliable weather sources for any updates.
Understanding the local weather conditions is crucial for residents and visitors alike. It is recommended to follow local laws and customs regarding weather safety. Stay informed about any weather warnings or advisories issued by Pagasa or local authorities. Be prepared with necessary supplies and have a plan in place in case of any emergency situations. By staying informed and taking necessary precautions, we can ensure our safety and well-being during changing weather conditions.
Remember, weather conditions can vary from one location to another, so it is essential to stay updated with the latest forecasts for your specific area. Stay safe and enjoy the day!
