MANILA, Philippines: The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has reported that the easterlies, winds coming from the east that pass through the Pacific Ocean and bring warm and humid weather, are currently affecting Visayas and Mindanao. In the next 24 hours, these regions may experience scattered rain showers.

Meanwhile, Luzon, including Metro Manila, will continue to have fair weather. However, isolated downpours and thunderstorms are likely due to the northeast monsoon, also known as “amihan.”

According to Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja, there are no low pressure areas currently being monitored within or outside the country’s area of responsibility. Estareja also mentioned that it is highly unlikely for the country to experience any tropical cyclones until the end of the month or even the year 2023.

The easterlies are specifically affecting Caraga, Eastern Visayas, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Palawan. These areas can expect overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

In addition to the easterlies, the northeast monsoon will also bring cloudy skies with isolated light rains to Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Aurora, Quezon, and Kalinga.

It is important to note that weather patterns can vary across different regions. While Visayas and Mindanao are currently experiencing the effects of the easterlies, Luzon, including Metro Manila, is influenced by the northeast monsoon. These weather systems are influenced by local geography and atmospheric conditions.

For those residing in Visayas and Mindanao, it is advisable to prepare for potential rain showers and thunderstorms. Stay updated with the latest weather advisories from Pagasa and take necessary precautions to ensure your safety.

On the other hand, residents of Luzon, including Metro Manila, should be aware of the possibility of isolated downpours and thunderstorms. While fair weather is expected, it is always wise to stay prepared for sudden changes in weather conditions.

Pagasa continues to monitor weather conditions closely and will provide timely updates as necessary. It is recommended to stay informed through reliable sources and follow any instructions or guidelines issued by local authorities.

Remember, weather patterns can be unpredictable, and it is essential to stay vigilant and prepared. Stay safe and take necessary precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones during inclement weather.

Note: The content has been improved by providing additional information about the easterlies and northeast monsoon, explaining the influence of local geography and atmospheric conditions, and emphasizing the importance of staying prepared and informed.
