MANILA, Philippines: The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has forecasted scattered light rains and thunderstorms in most parts of the country. These weather conditions are due to the easterlies, winds coming from the east that pass through the Pacific Ocean and bring warm and humid weather. While the Batanes and Babuyan Islands will continue to be affected by the waning northeast monsoon or “amihan,” the rest of the country will experience the effects of the easterlies.
According to Pagasa’s weather specialist Benison Estareja, Eastern Visayas and Caraga will likely have overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. These weather systems may also bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms to Metro Manila and other parts of the country within the next 24 hours.
As the dry season approaches, some leading cities are already experiencing rising temperatures. The effects of the El Niño phenomenon are also being felt in certain provinces. In Metro Manila, temperatures are expected to range from 21 to 32 degrees Celsius, especially during noon to mid-afternoon. Laoag City will have temperatures ranging from 21 to 31 degrees Celsius, while Tuguegarao City will experience temperatures ranging from 22 to 33 degrees Celsius.
However, Baguio City will still enjoy “cool” temperatures, with the range expected to be between 16 and 23 degrees Celsius, according to Pagasa.
