(UPDATE) According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the country is currently experiencing two weather systems, resulting in hot, humid weather and isolated rains. The prevailing weather conditions are influenced by the easterlies, a hot wind coming from the Pacific Ocean, and the weakening northeast monsoon or “amihan,” which is bringing rain showers over extreme Northern Luzon.
While the hot and humid weather continues to affect most parts of the country, the good news is that no tropical cyclones are expected to impact the Philippines in the next few days, as confirmed by Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja.
In terms of specific regions, Batanes and Babuyan Islands can expect isolated rains, while the rest of Luzon will generally experience fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies. In the Visayas, residents can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with hot and humid conditions in central and western areas. There are also high chances of isolated rain showers in Northern and Eastern Samar, thanks to the easterlies.
As for Mindanao, most parts of the region will enjoy sunny skies, with the exception of the Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi areas. Caraga and Davao Region, on the other hand, can expect localized thunderstorms, also due to the easterlies.
