In the wake of the devastating Al-Mangaf fire, the Kuwaiti government has announced a series of measures aimed at providing relief to victims and cracking down on housing violations.

Following royal instructions, each family who lost loved ones in the fire will receive $15,000 in compensation. This financial aid, intended to ease the burden on grieving families, will be distributed through the victims’ respective embassies to ensure swift and efficient delivery.

The government is also taking a hard line on housing violations. Workers found residing in substandard accommodations will face immediate consequences, with deportation proceedings initiated within a mere 3 to 4 days. This swift action underscores the government’s commitment to enforcing housing regulations and safeguarding residents’ well-being.

While emphasizing the adequacy of existing facilities, authorities have ruled out the establishment of new shelter centers for displaced workers. This decision reflects the government’s belief in the current infrastructure’s capacity to handle any influx resulting from the crackdown on housing violations.

These measures represent a two-pronged approach to addressing both the immediate needs of the fire’s victims and the broader issue of housing standards in Kuwait. The government’s actions demonstrate a commitment to providing relief while taking concrete steps to prevent future tragedies.
