The Philippines can expect a mix of sun and showers over the next few days, thanks to the influence of the southwest monsoon, also known as “habagat.” This weather pattern, characterized by warm, moist winds, brings rain primarily to the western regions of the country.
According to Aldczar Aurelio, a weather specialist at PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration), while the southwest monsoon will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Palawan and Mindanao, Metro Manila and other Luzon provinces like Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas can expect similar conditions.
Western Visayas, Zambales, Bataan, and the rest of Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) might experience isolated downpours or thunderstorms. The rest of the country is likely to see similar weather patterns with localized thunderstorms within the next 24 hours.
Importantly, PAGASA has not detected any storms approaching the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and doesn’t anticipate any until at least the end of the week.
