The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced on Friday that the first batch of seasonal farm workers bound for South Korea has been successfully deployed. This achievement was made possible through the collaboration of the DMW’s Regional Office 3, local town governments, the Bureau of Immigration (BI), and the Clark International Airport (CIA).
The 39 workers, hailing from the towns of Apalit, Lubao, and Magalang in Pampanga, completed the mandatory Pre-departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) and were granted their Special Exit Clearance for their flight to South Korea. This deployment marks the implementation of the “Interim Pipeline Processing” procedure by the DMW, which aims to protect the rights and welfare of workers participating in the Seasonal Work Program (SWP) of local government units (LGUs) in the Philippines.
In a statement, the DMW emphasized that seasonal farm workers who wish to join the SWP should not be charged any recruitment fees.
