Department of Education (DepEd) Tops Government Agency Trust and Performance Survey

(UPDATE) The Department of Education (DepEd) has been recognized as the most trusted and top-performing government agency, according to a survey conducted by independent pollster OCTA Research.

In their third-quarter survey, conducted from September 30 to October 4, DepEd received an impressive trust rating of 79 percent. The Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) closely followed with trust ratings of 75 percent each, while the Department of Health (DoH) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) received ratings of 74 percent and 73 percent, respectively.

DepEd’s trust rating was highest in the Visayas and Mindanao regions, at 88 percent, and lowest in Balanced Luzon, at 70 percent. Similarly, the trust ratings of CHEd, DPWH, DoH, and DSWD were also high in Visayas and Mindanao, but lower in Balanced Luzon.

Among different socio-economic classes, DepEd had the highest trust rating among Class D and E, at 80 percent and 78 percent, respectively. However, it had the lowest trust rating among Class ABC, at 69 percent. The DoH and DSWD had the highest trust ratings among Class D and E respondents, and the lowest among Class ABC respondents. Only CHEd and DPWH scored high in Class E.

On the other hand, government agencies with trust ratings below 40 percent included the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) at 38 percent, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) at 37 percent, and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) at 35 percent.

Interestingly, the DMW, DBM, and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development had the highest trust percentage among respondents who were undecided, at 50 percent.

DepEd also emerged as the best-performing government agency, with a performance rating of 80 percent. It was closely followed by DSWD at 75 percent, and DPWH and DoH at 74 percent. CHEd secured a performance rating of 73 percent.

The Education department’s performance rating varied across the country, ranging from 72 percent to 91 percent. The highest rating was recorded in the Visayas at 91 percent, followed by Mindanao at 88 percent, and Balanced Luzon at 72 percent.

Similarly, the DSWD achieved high performance marks in the Visayas and Mindanao, with ratings of 87 percent and 85 percent, respectively. However, it fell short in the National Capital Region (NCR) at 67 percent and Balanced Luzon.

The DPWH exhibited a similar trend, while the DoH and CHEd received high performance ratings in the NCR, Visayas, and Mindanao, but a lower rating in Balanced Luzon.

DepEd garnered high performance marks in Class D and E, at 84 percent and 80 percent, respectively, with the lowest rating in Class ABC.

DSWD, DoH, and CHEd received higher satisfaction ratings in Class D and E, while the DPWH had the highest satisfaction ratings among Class ABC and E.

The DBM had the lowest performance rating among government agencies, at 32 percent, followed by the DTI and DMW at 36 percent each, and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development at 38 percent.

Notably, the budget agency had the highest percentage of undecided respondents, at 54 percent, followed by the DMW at 52 percent.

OCTA Research conducted the survey, polling 1,200 respondents to gather these insights.
