The Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr., expressed his strong disapproval towards an unidentified vlogger who used false information to gain popularity on social media platforms and earn money. During the flag-raising ceremony in Camp Crame, Acorda criticized the vlogger for dragging his name and other government officials into the disinformation campaign.

Acorda highlighted that even the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff, Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., was targeted in the vlogger’s attempt to incite a “withdrawal of support” and call for the resignation of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. The PNP chief expressed his disappointment, stating, “It hurts me that there are people sowing disinformation using their vlog just to be famous.”

Emphasizing the importance of unity among law enforcement agencies, Acorda urged police forces to uphold the rule of law, respect the Constitution, and defend the government. He stressed that while freedom of expression and speech are respected, law enforcers have a duty to protect the community and enforce the law. Acorda firmly stated, “We don’t tolerate these things, and the people are counting on us.”

Initial investigations conducted by the PNP revealed that the vlogger was a retired military general, but his true identity remains unknown despite extensive efforts in the ongoing cybercrime investigation. This revelation adds a layer of intrigue to the case, as it raises questions about the motives and potential connections of the individual behind the disinformation campaign.

In response to the vlogger’s actions, AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. issued a statement reaffirming the military’s unwavering loyalty to the Constitution and its commitment to fulfilling its mandate. Brawner emphasized that the men and women of the AFP remain steadfast in their role as guardians of the nation’s sovereignty and defenders of democratic principles.

Acorda also took the opportunity to address the public, urging them not to contribute to the spread of disinformation on social media platforms. He called on individuals to refrain from posting false information solely for the purpose of creating a viral vlog. This plea serves as a reminder that responsible use of social media is essential in maintaining the integrity of information and preventing the proliferation of misleading content.

The case involving the vlogger highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in combating disinformation and protecting the public from its harmful effects. It underscores the need for continued efforts to strengthen cybersecurity measures and enhance the ability to identify and hold accountable those who engage in such activities.

As the investigation into the vlogger’s identity continues, it is crucial for the authorities to work diligently to uncover the truth behind the disinformation campaign. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining trust in the information we consume and the role that law enforcement plays in safeguarding the integrity of our society.

In conclusion, the condemnation of the vlogger by PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. sheds light on the detrimental impact of spreading disinformation. It serves as a call to action for law enforcement agencies and the public to remain vigilant in combating the spread of false information and upholding the principles of truth and accountability.
