Warm and Humid Weather in Manila, Philippines

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecasted warm and humid weather for most parts of the country, with the exception of areas experiencing downpours and thunderstorms. This weather pattern is expected to prevail in the coming days.

According to weather specialist Grace Castañeda, no weather disturbances have been detected entering the country at present. This is in contrast to the previous week’s prediction by the weather bureau, which anticipated the arrival of a storm, to be named Aghon, within the Philippine area of responsibility.

Impact of the Easterlies

The current weather conditions are influenced by the easterlies, which are winds coming from the east and passing through the Pacific Ocean. These winds carry warm and humid weather, affecting eastern Visayas in particular.

In the next 24 hours, overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are likely in eastern Visayas due to the easterlies. Meanwhile, the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated downpours or thunderstorms, mostly occurring in the afternoon or at night.

Local Weather Patterns and Customs

The warm and humid weather in the Philippines is a characteristic of its tropical climate. The country experiences two main seasons: the dry season, which typically runs from November to April, and the wet season, which spans from May to October.

During the wet season, the country is prone to typhoons and heavy rainfall. It is important for residents and visitors to stay updated on weather forecasts and heed any warnings or advisories issued by PAGASA to ensure their safety.

Given the diverse geography of the Philippines, weather patterns can vary across different regions. For example, areas along the eastern coast, such as eastern Visayas, are more exposed to the easterlies and are therefore more likely to experience rain showers and thunderstorms.

When planning outdoor activities in the Philippines, it is advisable to take the weather into consideration, especially during the wet season. It is also common for locals to carry umbrellas or raincoats as a precautionary measure.

Additionally, it is worth noting that the weather in Metro Manila, the country’s capital, can be influenced by various factors such as urbanization and the heat island effect. These factors can contribute to higher temperatures and less rainfall compared to other parts of the country.

As the warm and humid weather continues to prevail in most parts of the Philippines, it is important to stay informed about any weather disturbances and take necessary precautions. The easterlies are currently affecting eastern Visayas, bringing rain showers and thunderstorms to the region. In Metro Manila and other areas, isolated downpours or thunderstorms may occur in the afternoon or at night.

Understanding the local weather patterns and customs can help residents and visitors better prepare for the prevailing conditions. By staying updated on weather forecasts and following safety guidelines, individuals can make the most of their time in the Philippines, regardless of the weather.
