The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) is taking action to support displaced families in the south of the Gaza Strip by distributing flour. This initiative covers the governorates of Al-Wusta (central Gaza), Khan Yunis, and Rafah. Led by the dedicated volunteer team, the KRCS has partnered with the Palestinian Peace Mills Company in Gaza to ensure a daily supply of flour for this project.

According to Ahmed Abu Dayyeh, the head of the volunteer teams, the distribution of flour to displaced families in the Gaza Strip is an essential response to the pressing need for food security. The bags of flour, each weighing 25 kilograms, will be provided to the displaced families in shelters, homes, and hospitals. Additionally, medical teams and various community groups in the southern governorates of the Gaza Strip will also benefit from this distribution, facilitated by local and civil committees.

With each bag of flour being sufficient for a family of five people, the distribution will provide sustenance for approximately twenty days. This assistance will enable families to make bread, a staple food in their diet, ensuring their nutritional needs are met during this challenging time.

Unfortunately, thousands of Palestinian families in the northern and southern areas, which are currently under siege by the occupation army, face severe shortages of flour and other essential humanitarian supplies. The Israeli occupation authorities have closed the only commercial crossing, Kerem Shalom, since the start of the aggression on October 7. This closure has further exacerbated the already dire situation, making it even more crucial for organizations like the KRCS to step in and provide support.

The KRCS’s flour distribution initiative is a testament to their commitment to alleviating the suffering of displaced families in Gaza. By partnering with local suppliers and working closely with relevant committees, the KRCS ensures that the distribution reaches those who need it the most. This vital support not only addresses immediate food security concerns but also contributes to the overall well-being of the affected communities.

As the KRCS continues to distribute flour and other essential supplies, their efforts play a significant role in providing relief to the displaced families in Gaza. By extending a helping hand during these challenging times, the KRCS demonstrates the power of humanitarian aid in making a positive impact on people’s lives.
