A Symbol of Gratitude: The UAE Leaders Mural in Manila
A mural depicting the leaders of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was unveiled at the iconic Lope de Vega basketball court in Manila on Friday. This vibrant artwork serves as a symbol of “collaborative gratitude” to the UAE for its unwavering support and assistance to Filipinos during times of calamity.
The commissioned mural was brought to life by Manila-based businessman Manito Hwang, who enlisted the renowned visual artist Maya Car Andang for the design and painting. The mural features the esteemed UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, former UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Dubai Ruler Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and UAE politician Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum. Car Andang, known for her previous work on the 92 feet by 45 feet mural of LeBron James at the Tenement Building in Western Bicutan, Taguig, was the perfect artist for this significant project.
Hwang expressed his gratitude, stating, “The world-class masterpiece is a tribute to the respected leaders of the UAE and a heartfelt ‘thank you’ from the Filipino community, recognizing the profound impact on countless lives that have been changed by their generosity.”
A Testament to Unwavering Support
The mural stands as a testament to the unwavering support and assistance that the UAE has extended to the Philippines, particularly during times of calamity. One notable event was the 2020 Taal Volcano eruption, where the UAE’s assistance played a crucial role in aiding affected Filipinos. Hwang emphasized the UAE’s continuous support, highlighting their donation of 100,000 vials of COVID-19 vaccines and RT-PCR machines during the height of the pandemic in the Philippines.
Furthermore, Hwang acknowledged the UAE’s significant contribution to employment opportunities for Filipinos. The country has provided numerous job opportunities, further strengthening the bond between the Philippines and the UAE.
A Reflection of Enduring Bonds
Hwang concluded his remarks by extending his deepest gratitude to the UAE and its revered leaders for their compassion and generosity, which have touched the lives of millions. He emphasized that this mural tribute serves as a reflection of the enduring bond between the Philippines and the UAE, showcasing the profound appreciation for their selfless support.
This remarkable mural not only celebrates the UAE leaders but also highlights the shared values of gratitude, compassion, and collaboration between nations. It serves as a reminder of the positive impact that can be achieved through international cooperation and goodwill.
