Exploring Opportunities for Future Partnerships: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Meets Czech Republic President Petr Pavel

On Thursday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. embarked on a visit to the Czech Republic to meet with President Petr Pavel. The purpose of this meeting was to explore potential opportunities for future partnerships between the two countries.

President Marcos, accompanied by his wife, First Lady Marie Louise Araneta-Marcos, Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, Speaker Martin Romualdez, Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo, Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual, Presidential Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil, and other Philippine government officials, arrived at the Prague Castle at 10:37 a.m. local time.

Upon his arrival, President Marcos was accorded honors, a customary gesture to welcome visiting dignitaries. This reception not only signifies the respect and hospitality extended to President Marcos but also reflects the warm diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the Czech Republic.

Enhancing Cooperation for the Safe Migration of Filipino Workers

During his visit, President Marcos is expected to sign a joint communiqué with President Pavel. This communiqué aims to establish labor consultation mechanisms between the Philippines and the Czech Republic. The primary objective of these mechanisms is to enhance cooperation for the safe and orderly migration of Filipino workers to the Czech Republic.

By establishing these mechanisms, both countries aim to provide a higher level of protection for the rights and welfare of Filipino workers. This initiative acknowledges the importance of ensuring the well-being and fair treatment of Filipino workers who contribute significantly to the Czech Republic’s workforce.

Press Conference and Meetings with Key Government Officials

Following a private tete-a-tete between President Marcos and President Pavel, both leaders will address members of the media in a joint press conference.
