PH Calls for Unhindered Aid Delivery to Gaza

The Philippines has once again emphasized the importance of allowing unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Justice Undersecretary Raul Vasquez expressed concern over the credibility of UN human rights mechanisms in the region, highlighting the need to address the challenges faced by the international community.

During the 55th Session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on February 27, Vasquez delivered the Philippine national statement, urging the international community to strengthen multilateral institutions based on international law, where justice and human rights prevail. The revival of the Barangay Human Rights Action Center and capacity-building initiatives for civil society organizations were also mentioned.

The Philippine delegation to the event comprised several key members, including UN Ambassador Carlos Sorreta, Justice Undersecretary Jesse Andres, Undersecretary Severo Catura of the Presidential Human Rights Committee, First Secretary Luningning Camoying Valdez of Geneva PM, and Department of Foreign Affairs Director Janice Sanchez-Rivera.
